One of the singers that took the stage during the 2023 ACM Honors aired on Fox on Monday night (Sept. 18) was Brandy Clark, who paid a very personal homage to the late K.T. Oslin, one of the honorees for the evening.
The late singer-songwriter Oslin was honored with a posthumous Poet’s Award during the ceremony for her efforts as a composer, and Clark was there to pay musical tribute to the late artist by performing a subdued acoustic version of Oslin’s hallmark hit from 1987, “80’s Ladies.”
In order to give the song more of a singer-songwriter feel and reveal its more pensive side, Clark focused more heavily on the songwriting and less on the song’s arrangement.
Other country musicians who performed at the 2023 ACM Honors, which were held at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville on August 23 and broadcast on Fox on Monday night, included Lee Brice, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lady A, and the War and Treaty. The event was hosted by Carly Pearce.
Some of the biggest names in country music had a very special night. At the occasion, Chris Stapleton was given the ACM Triple Crown Award, and Kane Brown was given the ACM International Award. The Poet’s Award was also given to Clint Black and Mary Chapin Carpenter. At the 2023 ACM Honors gala, Tim McGraw was given the ACM Icon Award, and Charlie Daniels was given a posthumous ACM Spirit Award.
